Snapchat Selfie Society!

ImageWhat is the first thing that you do in the morning? Wake up, look around and then most likely if you are waking up in this day and age grab your phone check it and then maybe take a selfie on snapchat. Why do I bring this up, because in today’s society our social media platforms are wanting us to become more social without actually communicating. The social snapchat craze has been the new trending buzz that many are asking all about. Snapchat is an application for your mobile device that lets you take a photo while messaging it to multiple friends. This app also allows you to send videos, text messages and drawings on the actual photos.

This application is a way for storytellers to not even speak but let viewers see the details of what’s on their mind, what they maybe having for lunch through visual photos. Snapchat allows you to have a timed 10 second glance of the photo and then disappears just like a ghost. The app has caught some flack from the beginning because many users of the app were taken screen shots of the photos that were apparently suppose to vanish.

So is this app truly a social selfie of society? Yes many users are quite amused by taking photos of themselves. Snapchat still creates communication between best friends and long-lost relatives just by photos which hopefully then turns into memories for the future and the next phone call!

Take that to the WordBank!

When I googled how many words a person speaks in a day?

This is what research tells us…

male = 6073 words per day
female = 8805 words per day

Communication is such a powerful tool that everyone has the ability to use it in any form they would like. So many forms of words and communication is just amazing to think about!  But the best part about communication is the specific words that connect to make sentences which then lead to stories and story telling. So my new hobby I have begun is a WordBank! Some words when reading a good article or listening to someone describe something are branded into your memory. The actual words themselves can change an entire story or image that your thinking of just by the way it might be used in a sentence or how someone might put a certain emphasis or pause before or after it. Also the best part about this word bank is looking back at the words I have chosen in the past and notice the difference in words overtime! Also there are no rules to this wordbank! All words are welcome big, small, even new upcoming slang!  It might be a nerdy hobby but the way I see it the more words you know the more knowledge you have and in today’s society knowledge is power! So if you have any intriguing words for the WordBank let me know!!  Here are just a few that have caught my eye: evolution, renegade, asynchronous, scope, bashtag!
